FAQ
What ping is good for online gaming? โผ
Below 30ms is excellent for any competitive game. 30โ60ms is good and acceptable. Between 60โ100ms you may notice slight delays in fast-paced games. Above 100ms starts to hurt in shooters and action games. Above 200ms is basically unplayable.
How many Mbps do I need for online gaming? โผ
Surprisingly little โ most online games only use 1โ5 Mbps of download. What matters most is a stable, low ping. A 10 Mbps connection with 20ms ping is far better for gaming than 100 Mbps with 80ms ping.
Wi-Fi or Ethernet for gaming? โผ
Always use a wired Ethernet connection when possible. Wi-Fi can have ping fluctuation (jitter) that really hurts competitive gaming, even with good speeds. If you can't use a cable, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is the most stable option for gaming.
